A big welcome to Ecover Global’s newest interns, Kelsey Ramos and Logan Burks! Both joined Ecover Global’s coveted internship program at the beginning of June. Student development is one of the core components of Ecover’s community involvement initiatives. The goal of the program is to empower students and give them hands-on opportunities to learn.
Ecover Global’s Internship Program
Ecover’s internship program is a six- to10-week program complete with milestones throughout. Phase 1 is a training period, where interns spend time with each department head, learning each and every aspect of the business and its products. Completion of this phase involves being able to perform a sales pitch of Ecover’s products to the head of sales.
Phase 2 involves choosing a company initiative to take on and execute.
Phase 3 involves identifying a prospective client, pitching them, and closing them. Successful interns are rewarded by being able to earn full commission on the sale. This internship program was modeled by Ecover Chairman and CEO Ben Sever and was inspired by aspects of what he experienced interning with industry giants like ADP and Indeed. He and his team enjoy finding interns who may not possess the skills needed for a position with Ecover, but who demonstrate drive, ambition, and hard work.
Kelsey, a student at St. Petersburg College, recently changed her major from Business to Cybersecurity. She approached Ben indicating that she would love the opportunity to be associated with a growth-oriented company like Ecover Global on the ground floor. She loves the idea of being able to be hands-on and learn all aspects of the business, from sales to marketing to development.
While in school, Kelsey has been an Ambassador at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa where she worked several large profile events and fundraisers. She brings those skills to Ecover, having recently served as Executor of the Banquet for the HalaBEAT Cancer Banquet. The cancer banquet was Kelsey’s Phase 2 company initiative that she executed from beginning to end.
The banquet was the first of its size for Kelsey to coordinate, but it was extremely successful, raising $12,000 for the AdventHealth Carrollwood Foundation.
Kelsey very much enjoyed working on the banquet and hopes to take on more event planning and teambuilding work for the Ecover team.
Logan is a marketing major attending the University of Arkansas. She brings with her skills in sales, social media, and philanthropy. Her goal is to gain experience with startup companies and to apply the skills she has learned in her New Venture/Entrepreneurship and Marketing classes in real-world applications. Thus, she is a perfect fit with Ecover Global! So far, she has worked one-on-one with Ecover’s CEO, trained with the sales team, and worked alongside the Creative Director. She has created her own client demos, spoken at executive meetings, contributed technology best practice ideas for the sales team, and created graphics for more than 10 clients.
The first three weeks of Logan’s internship took place in Tampa, with the remainder of the program taking place from Arkansas where she returned to school. So far, she has found the switch to remote work to be an easy one and really values her weekly meetings with the President and CEO.
She loves the fact that Ecover’s business model thrives during this unexpected pandemic and economic instability.
